It was just announced that as part of a turnaround project, Walgreens will close 1,200 locations over the next three years. This is coming after years of the drugstore chain struggling to stay afloat as consumers have changed their spending habits. On Tuesday, the popular drugstore chain said that about 500 store closures will happen in the current fiscal year and should immediately support adjusted earnings and free cash flow. They did not say at this time where these closings will take place. Walgreens also noted on Tuesday that its net loss grew to over $3 billion in the final quarter of last year.
