"VeriSign's two .com contracts up for renewal (November 30) have become increasingly more debated as to whether they renew under current terms, primarily VeriSign's ability to increase pricing 7% in the last four years of each six-year contract," analyst Ygal Arounian wrote in an investor note. "Our speaker's [Cyrus Namazi] commentary raised confidence in our base case assumption that contracts will renew under current terms as he reinforced that Amendment 35 provides VeriSign solid legal protection with the [Department of Commerce], an antitrust case would be difficult for the [Department of Justice] to make, and expectation ICANN would renew. A .com renewal with current pricing intact, and our expectation for .com volume to return to positive growth, leaves VeriSign's ~20x ‘25E PE valuation attractive in our view."
