VinFast faces safety probe in the U.S. over lane assist system [Seeking Alpha]

The safety investigation covers about 3,118 VinFast vehicles and follows allegations in 14 reports by drivers of VinFast 2023 and 2024 models that the system has difficulty detecting lanes on the roadway, provides improper steering inputs, and is difficult to override by the driver. "The complaints allege the system can activate in error and not function properly. The VOQs allege the system has difficulty detecting lanes on the roadway, provides improper steering inputs, and is difficult to override by the driver. Improper steering inputs can result in high control effort required by the driver and increase the likelihood of a crash or injury." The U.S. auto safety regulator said it is opening the investigation to assess the scope, frequency, and severity of the potential problem and to determine if a safety related defect exists in the subject vehicles. VinFast Auto ( VFS ) hopes to expand its presence in the United States. The company has received over 70 dealer applications
