The scope of the contract includes the upgrade and extension of the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWQCC), which has been operational in Canberra since the late 1970s. The LMWQCC serves as the primary wastewater treatment plant for the Australian Capital Territory and holds the distinction of being the largest inland treatment facility in Australia. The collaborative design and build approach will involve engineering company BECA HunterH2O. The project aims to construct a new membrane bioreactor to increase the plant's capacity by treating 97 mega-litres of wastewater daily using innovative membrane treatment technology. It aims to upgrade plant treatment capacity and enhance wastewater services for the Canberra community.
