Wells Fargo raised its outlook for two names in the category and downgraded another, even as all three face the same macroeconomic recession risks. Visteon Corp ( NASDAQ: VC ), which makes user interface tech and gauges, and many of the components on the instrument cluster, has seen its share price deteriorate by 24% this year (vs +20% for the S&P 500), which Wells Fargo analyst Colin Langan sees as an attractive entry point for a company with a strong balance sheet and margin profile. While top-line growth for Visteon ( VC ) has been underwhelming, Langan believes this is already priced into shares. “In periods of flat to down [light vehicle production] growth, names like [Visteon] should outperform, yet [Visteon's] valuation premium is narrowed vs peers recently given likely overdone [battery electric vehicle] concerns,” Langan says in justifying his upgrade of Visteon ( VC ) to Overweight from Equalweight and higher price target (+6% to $122).
