Oh, the Fed's still holding its policy meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday. But that rate cut? It's most likely on hold for now. No quarter-point rate, as some had expected a few months ago, is expected to be at the end of this St. Patrick Day's rainbow. Consumers aren't having any luck yet when it comes to seeing another move toward lower interest rates in 2025. The next Fed rate cut — whenever that might take place — would immediately help reduce the cost of borrowing on credit cards, home equity lines of credit and many private student loans.
