"Following our estimate cut on pricing for 28nm and above mature nodes of [Taiwan Semiconductor] in 2025E, we are lowering our UMC ... earnings forecast in response to the more intensified pricing competition for the legacy foundry industry into 20225E and beyond, mainly on the back of: further [average selling price] erosion due to ongoing competition especially from mainland China on capacity build; and a still subdued demand outlook for consumer electronics, PC, smartphones, auto, industrial, etc., ...," analyst Bruce Lu wrote in a note to clients.
