Over the next few weeks, we may well see some form of peace deal between Russia and Ukraine and, as part of that, a lifting of sanctions – at least in part. The Russian market will be open again. But hold on. In reality, global multinationals would be crazy to go back into the country – they will only get burnt a second time. The details still need to be worked out and the terms have yet to be settled, while someone has to agree to man the peacekeeping force that will be needed along the border. Even so, with plenty of bullying from President Trump , a truce between Russia and Ukraine looks increasingly likely to be agreed over the next few weeks.
