When compared with its peers in the brokerage space, IBKR's performance is notably stronger. Charles Schwab SCHW has lost 9.2% and LPL Financial LPLA stock is down 12.4% in the same timeframe. The clarity on several macroeconomic factors led the clients to become more comfortable with taking on risks. Hence, as the clients took more assertive positions, it helped IBKR garner record commission fees during the first half of 2024. Growth in net interest income and net interest margin was driven by the strength in margin loans (which touched $55 billion in the second quarter of 2024) and segregated cash interest.
