company's annual election slate following a campaign led by an East Coast group advocating change at the Lebec-based agribusiness and real estate developer. The percentage of shareholders withholding their votes from incumbent board members increased as much as eightfold at the Lebec-based company's annual meeting May 14, as compared with last year. Those who opposed or abstained from supporting the company's executive compensation plan more than quadrupled to reach 39%. While each of the ballot items won majority approval, including a board member reelected by a margin of just 6 percentage points, the results caught the notice of a stock analyst at Zacks Small-Cap Research who called them a sign of "rising investor sentiment that change is needed within the company's top management members." An open letter released Thursday by longtime shareholder Glenbrook Capital Management said it was skeptical the meeting's "wake-up call" had fully registered with the board of Tejon Ranch.
