In the fiscal fourth quarter ended Sept. 30, it closed sales of 23,647 homes, up 3.1% from the year-earlier period. Revenue was a different story: $10 billion, down 4.8% from a year earlier. A buydown involves the payment of additional funds up front to reduce the interest rate on a mortgage, usually in the early years of the loan term. And the trend isn't improving.
