O n Friday, four members of the billionaire Hinduja family were each sentenced by a Swiss court to varying terms in prison for the exploitation of house staff employed at their Lake Geneva estate. Prakash Hinduja, the chairman of the Hinduja Group in Europe, and his wife Kamal each received sentences of four and a half years in prison, . Their son, Ajay, and his wife, Namrata, were sentenced to four years apiece. The family members were convicted of exploitation and illegal employment. They were acquitted of charges of human trafficking, according to a statement to Forbes by the family. Workers at the Hindujas' Lake Geneva estate alleged that they were paid $8 for an 18 hour shift – less than one-tenth the minimum wage required under Swiss law.
