ECB Cuts Rates For The 7th Time, Outlook Leans Dovish Amid "Exceptional Uncertainty" As expected, the ECB cut its three main rates by 25bps for a 7th consecutive time (deposit facility, the main refinancing operations and the marginal lending facility will be decreased to 2.25%, 2.40% and 2.65% respectively). Of note, for the first time this easing cycle the central bank dropped the word "restrictive" from the statement . Reuters reported that the decision to cut rates was unanimous, as even some of the more hawkish rate setters agreed the global trade was has significantly altered the outlook. The ECB also delivered a dovish outlook given “exceptional” uncertainty. The cut was based on the “updated assessment of the inflation outlook, the dynamics of underlying inflation and the strength of monetary policy transmission”, the Governing Council said in the statement.
