The central bank's main worry this year has been the property market, the reason it has been one of the few major economies in Asia that has not cut rates. Home prices have risen for 24 straight quarters, and rents climbed in November at the fastest pace in 28 years. That concern has prompted the CBC to hike the amount of funds banks must hold in reserve at its last two quarterly meetings and roll out other curbs on the property market.
