Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the drug developer made misleading claims about the 2020 trial results of its Alzheimer's drug candidate, simufilam. The SEC's charges relate to statements made by Casava ( SAVA ) regarding the results of its 2020 Phase 2b clinical trial of simufilam. The company's founder and ex-CEO, Remi Barbier, and Lindsay Burns, former SVP of Neuroscience, have also settled negligence-based disclosure charges brought by the SEC. The regulator said the former executives had misled investors with claims that the Phase 2 trial was conducted in blinded conditions, and that the results showed significant improvement in patients involved in the clinical trial. As part of the settlement deal, Casava has not admitted to or denied the SEC's allegations. The company said it cooperated fully with the regulator's investigation and implemented remedial measures.
