A representative for Rubis declined to comment, adding the company “has regularly been the subject of rumors in recent months.” Rubis has been under activist investor pressure to change its governance and strategy after its shares dropped about 65% from an all-time high in May 2018. The stock has risen about 1.7% so far this year, giving the company a market value of about €2.4 billion
