For the last three decades, Premier's 100 Top Hospitals program has been using data-driven analysis to determine which hospitals are achieving the best results. The most successful health systems outperform their peers on clinical outcomes and lives saved. This year's 100 Top Hospitals list recognizes institutions that consistently score high on patient experience, operational efficiencies, and financial health. Researchers used public Medicare data to evaluate particular measures of success, including inpatient mortality, complications, average length of stay, operating profit margin, and the number of healthcare-associated infections, among others. The hospitals that topped the list exceed in all key measures—particularly when it comes to mortality rates. If this year's top 100 hospitals were serving all Medicare patients, the data found that over 331,000 additional lives would be saved in a hospital setting,
