The ball drop doesn't quite have the same meaning to Americans who live in other time zones. In Los Angeles, the event marks 9 p.m. on New Years Eve, and for people living in Hawaii or some U.S. territories, the timing is even farther removed from the start of the new year. People in Guam will have been in 2025 for over half a day when the ball drops. The Times Square ball doesn't drop again after residents and visitors on the East Coast ring in the New Year, but there are still plenty of ways for the rest of the nation to watch it happen — and plenty of celebrations elsewhere in the country too.
