Nashville's Colton Herta gets first oval win on home track for Music City Grand Prix victory [USA TODAY]

It was Herta's first win on an oval and came in the first held on an oval at the 1.33-mile concrete track. The first three races were on a street course in downtown Nashville. It was also the ninth career win for Herta, 24, who moved to Nashville from California in 2023. Herta, who started in 17th position, relied on a pick move using Sting Ray Robb, who was not in contention at the time, to take the lead from Pato O'Ward with five laps to go. O'Ward finished second and Newgarden was third. "To be honest there were a number of scenarios that kind of made it enjoyable to live out here," Herta said of his move to Nashville. "The main thing was this area is closer to a lot of the races and that's nicer. We definitely do a lot of traveling in our season of racing and I don't have a plane like Pato, so anything to knock out some of the travel helps."
