The chief executive of one of Britain's biggest semiconductor companies is stepping down amid claims the business transferred key technology to China. Simon Beresford-Wylie has told Imagination Technologies he will resign next year, prompting the Chinese-owned company to kickstart its search for a new boss. His departure comes after claims Chinese engineers developing advanced artificial intelligence for use in military systems gained access to Imagination's designs. Earlier this month, it was reported that the company sold extensive access to its designs to China's Biren Technology and Moore Threads, both of which are on a US blacklist. A report from the UK-China transparency centre said the Hertfordshire-company had transferred “core assets” to the two firms, which develop cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies.
