The CEO of Magna International Inc., one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world, fielded questions this week from reporters about the state of the industry. Magna produces a variety of products and even assembles some vehicles for customers. Swamy Kotagiri, the CEO, talked to journalists at the company's facility in Troy, Michigan, on Monday. Here are some highlights: Electric vehicles : “We believe that EV is a secular trend,” he said. Four to five years ago, “We were criticized for being overly conservative in that time…As we stand today, I think we're deemed as a little more realistic.” Automakers have slowed their introduction of new EV models. For example, Ford Motor Co. said on April 4 it was delaying output of two EV models while increasing production of gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles.
