The heroine is a woman of a certain age named Glory Broussard, who the New York Times called "a character for the ages" in Danielle Arceneaux's 2023 debut novel "Glory Be." Now Glory is back in "Glory Daze," the second book in Arceneaux's Glory Broussard Mysteries. The series is set in Lafayette, Louisiana. "In the south you meet a lot of really unique characters," Arceneaux told Mary. "Church is just part of the fabric of the south. But I think in order for the book to be entertaining, you have to have a lot of contradictions and complexities." Glory Broussard is a dedicated church-goer and member of the Acadiana Red Hat Society for Black Catholic women. She's also a bookie running her operation out of a local coffee shop.
