China reportedly set to hit back in trade war with US China is ready to use rare earths to strike back in a trade war with the United Stat, Chine newspapers warned Wednday in strongly worded commtari on a move that would calate tsions betwe the world's two largt economi. Load Error Pridt Xi Jinping's visit to a rare earths plant last week had sparked speculation that China would use its dominant position as an exporter of rare earths to the United Stat as leverage in the trade war. Rare earths are a group of 7 chemical elemts used in everything from high-tech consumer electronics to military equipmt. The prospect that their value could soar as a rult of the trade war caused sharp increas in the share pric of producers, including the company visited by Xi.
