Now, the airline has sparked outrage amongst its customers with yet another major change. Like its free bag policy, Southwest has long offered another extremely customer-friendly policy in that its travel credits never expire. If a customer had to cancel a flight, they would be given a travel credit to use with the airline at any point in the future with no restriction. But that will no longer be the case. As View From The Wing reported over the weekend, Southwest Airlines has announced that on flights purchased or changed after May 28, travel credits will expire 12 months from the date of original ticket purchase for standard fares and 6 months from the date of original ticket purchase for basic economy fares. Needless to say, this was not a popular change among Southwest customers as it quickly sparked outrage on social media – especially after the airline also ended its free bag policy last month.
