And it seems like the hits just keep coming. Last month, Southwest Airlines announced that it would be ending its longstanding policy of offering two free checked bags for each customer, which obviously sparked outrage amongst loyal customers . The company then followed that move by ending another longstanding customer-friendly policy by adding an expiration date to its travel credits, once again sparking outrage from customers The quickly changing policies come as the struggling airline attempts to boost profits. Amid these changes, the airline is also undergoing more cost-cutting restructuring at the expense of thousands of employees. This month, the company is set to lay off 1,750 employees beginning on April 22. The layoffs, which were originally announced back in February, mark the first mass involuntary workforce reduction in the company's 53-year history.
