Demand for rocket motors is soaring worldwide because of wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. Other militaries are also realizing that future conflicts will likely require many more rockets and missiles - as a part of a new warfighting doctrine dubbed "affordable mass" to describe the sheer volume of firepower involved. This is good news for L3Harris. In December 2022 the U.S. defense contractor offered to purchase Aerojet, which produces about half of all the rocket motors propelling U.S. military missiles, rockets and other projectiles. But at that time no one knew how long the Ukraine war would last and the Pentagon had signed few contracts to restock its shelves. Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System rockets, also known as GMLRS, travel about 45 miles (72 km). Their widespread use and success in Ukraine has driven demand from new customers.
