Dr. De Carvalho's contributions have the potential to transform cancer screening and surveillance by enabling earlier detection of many new and recurrent cancers with a blood test, resulting in more effective treatment. The Canada Gairdner Awards recognize outstanding researchers whose unique scientific contributions have increased the understanding of human biology and disease.
