The first time Esther Klang tried the Atalante X, a self-balancing robotic exoskeleton, she was elated. Klang, who is quadriplegic, works with Fable, an accessibility-testing platform that pairs product developers and people with disabilities who test and give feedback on assistive technology. At first, Klang was skeptical. It took a few minutes for physical therapists to strap her into the exoskeleton. "It empowered me to stand up and walk independently for the first time in 18 years," she told Business Insider.
