Two SKUs are to go on sale through German grocer Edeka next month. Migros subsidiary Delica launched the CoffeeB balls, which are designed to replace capsules, three years ago. The compostable balls are brewed through the company's CoffeeB machines. Edeka will sell the products – CoffeeB Melitta BellaCrema La Crema and the CoffeeB Melitta Auslese Klassisch – through its namesake stores, as well as its Marktkauf and Netto Marken-Discount chains. Each pack contains nine balls. Ebba Grebe, the CMO of the Melitta Europa business unit, said the launch of the company's CoffeeB products was “an exciting step towards a more sustainable future of coffee consumption”. CoffeeB was launched in Germany two years ago.
