Jazz Pharmaceuticals on Monday said it will begin searching for a successor to CEO Bruce Cozadd, who plans to retire from the company he helped start more than two decades ago. Cozadd will stay on as CEO until Jazz finds his replacement, after which he plans to continue serving as chair of the Dublin-based drugmaker's board of directors. The company expects the search process to be completed within one year. Cozadd co-founded Jazz in 2003 and was appointed CEO in April 2009. Since then, he has led the company through the approval of several medicines and the $7 billion acquisition of GW Pharmaceuticals in 2021. He also presided over a 2011 merger with Azur Pharma that moved its corporate headquarters to Ireland — a notable example of a business practice known as a "tax inversion."
