Against the backdrop of an industry onslaught that's pushing electric cars and hybrids like there's no tomorrow, Japan's biggest carmaker is quite happy to let the EV market saturate itself while giving enthusiasts what they want—turbocharged gasoline engine-powered sports cars. That's right, according to Japan's biggest selling car magazine, Best Car, Toyota plans to resurrect two of its legendary sports car names, the MR2 and the Celica. And no, they won't be electric or even hybridized. Yes, believe it or not, there's still a sizable niche market out there for such sports cars and Toyota wants to cash in on it. The carmaker has proved that over the past decade by launching a fist full of sporty coupes—all powered by gasoline engines—including the Scion FR-S (GT86), GR Supra, GR Yaris, GR Corolla and then a second generation of the Scion called the GR86.
