The company also expects to enter a forward sale agreement with Citigroup ( C ) in relation to 10M shares of common stock and up to an additional 1.5M shares if the underwriters exercise their option to purchase additional shares in full. IRT expects to contribute any cash net proceeds it receives upon the future settlement of the forward sale agreements to IRT's operating partnership, Independence Realty Operating Partnership, in exchange for common units in IROP.
