The Hertz Corporation, which includes Hertz, Dollar Rent-A-Car and Thrifty Car Rental, is warning its customers about a data breach one of its vendors suffered in October and December 2024. Hertz alerted customers that their personal information, including Social Security numbers and credit card information, could've been leaked following an analysis of the breach completed on April 2. In a statement shared with CNET, the company said its network was not affected by the breach, but rather Hertz data was accessed last year via its vendor, Cleo. "While Hertz is not aware of any misuse of personal information for fraudulent purposes in connection with the event, we encourage potentially impacted individuals, as a best practice, to remain vigilant to the possibility of fraud or errors by reviewing account statements and monitoring free credit reports for any unauthorized activity and reporting any such activity," Hertz said in its statement.
