But don't worry, these aren't the same mystery drones that sent the tri-state area into a frenzy last fall. , aka FAA, plans to use the aircrafts for testing. More than 100 commercial drones, plus several other large ones, are to make an appearance over the water at the Cape May Ferry Terminal in the coming weeks, the FAA said in a press release. The testing is to be conducted by the FAA's Center of Excellence for UAS Research. Police, local first responders and the Delaware River Bay Authority will be participating, according to the release. Drones are to be operated for a two-week period from April 14-25 during the daytime on weekends only. The public is asked not to fly recreational drones in the test area. The research project comes just a few months after were spotted in the sky throughout New Jersey, leaving many residents both confused and concerned and leading to a to identify the aircrafts.
