Dealers have adequate supply of vehicles for now. Experts predict there will be manufacturing shifts by automakers. The fallout was still settling over the auto industry Thursday morning — just hours after President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing 25% tariffs on all vehicles imported into the United States — as car dealers, analysts and industry leaders struggled to make sense of how this new cost will impact them. The confusion is around the fact that, even though American-made vehicles are exempt from a tariff, there is no such thing as a truly American-made vehicle. Even the most American-made car contains a good percentage of parts imported from other countries. Those parts could now be subject to 25% taxes paid by the importers
