Nvidia ( NVDA ), which last week became the third-ever company to move beyond a $3T market cap, is a “generational opportunity in a stock set to lead the age of ‘Parallel Processing,' Julian Emanuel, Evercore ISI's senior managing director, said in a note Sunday. History suggests the company, led by Jensen Huang, has the potential to become a 10%-15% weight of the S&P 500 ( SP500 SPY ), according to Mark Lipacis, who leads research coverage of semiconductor and capital equipment companies at Evercore ISI. Nvidia's ( NVDA ) current weighting is similar to Apple's ( AAPL ) at ~6.6%, and Microsoft ( MSFT ) holds ~7% weight. “We have observed that at each successive computing era, the ecosystem players represent a larger weighting of the S&P 500 ( SP500 ),” Lipacis said in a separate note on Friday.
