We all remember the images of the flotilla of small boats that made the crossing from the south of England in 1940 to rescue the troops from the beaches of Dunkirk. Brave, fearless and above all, demonstrating how the small players held an advantage by being agile and responsive. Fast forward to 2020 and here in the U.K. we are being urged to summon up that same spirit. The current coronavirus pandemic is, as we know, wreaking havoc across all sectors of the economy, not least of which is retail.
