Two “Dollar Tree Coming Soon” store signs were posted in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero locations previously occupied by the discount store 99 Cents Only. A Dollar Tree is expected to open in San Luis Obispo's Laguna Village Shopping Center , while the Atascadero one will open next to Vons on El Camino Real. The new locations will join seven other Dollar Trees in Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Los Osos, Morro Bay, Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. Discount store 99 Cents Only closed all its 371 locations in April, leaving a number of high-profile vacancies across the United States, including two in San Luis Obispo County. At the time, the chain announced it planned to enter into an agreement with Hilco Global to liquidate all merchandise and dispose of store fixtures and furnishings. In May, Dollar Tree announced it had acquired lease rights of 170 of the 99 Cents Only discount stores across Arizona, California, Nevada and Texas after the chain filed for bankruptcy
