These are tough times for America's once all-powerful dollar stores and a round of leadership changes at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are the latest moves to try and revive their fortunes. On Wednesday, Family Dollar parent company Dollar Tree announced that Jason Nordin had been appointed as the new president of the company's struggling Family Dollar banner, as the retailer continues with a formal review of its strategic alternatives. At the same time, Jocelyn Konrad became head of Dollar Tree stores and store operations, overseeing all the shops under the company's eponymous brand, while Steve Schumacher was promoted to chief people officer, a position he had held on an interim basis for the past six months. The merry-go-round of leadership changes came just over a week after Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling, who had been at the helm for around two years, stepped down, citing health issues, with Micheal Creedon, Dollar Tree's chief operating officer, named as interim CEO.
