The VisitFlorida tourist board has not commented on the reason for the drop but it is significant as more people travel to the state from the U.K. than any other country, except Canada. U.K. travelers represented 9.4% of international visitors to Florida last year compared to 9.6% in 2019 when they were attracted by blockbuster new theme park attractions at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando. The former swung open the doors to the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land whereas the latter became home to Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure which is based on the smash hit Harry Potter movies. The openings cast a powerful spell on U.K. travelers and 1% more of them visited Florida in 2019 than the previous year.
