In a cashless culture, it can be difficult to keep track of the budget with every convenient tap and swipe. Similarly, it can be just as difficult to teach our teens about managing finances. A recent survey released by Greenlight points to some trends that may emphasize some parents' concerns. According to Greenlight, teens are spending more on food delivery, gaming and beauty, and less on brick-and-mortar retail. In 2024, teens spent $71 million at Amazon in 2024 alone–nearly $20 million more than at other big-box stores. They also spent $45 million on DoorDash and $17 million at Sephora, showing a clear trend toward tech-enabled convenience and lifestyle spending. What's causing this?
