The value soared again on Monday when Trump appointed hard-charging former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official Tom Homan to oversee border control once he takes office on Jan. 20, 2025. Leading up to the election, CoreCivic shares on the New York Stock Exchange were valued around $13.19, and by Nov. 11, they jumped 81%. That peak was at $23.94 per share on the day Homan took the "border czar" position. Now, share prices are hovering between $21.50 to $22, the range they spiked to following Trump's victory. That marks a 69% increase from pre-election value, and a 41% rise over the last six months. CoreCivic and Florida-based corrections company Geo Group are the top two private prison firms in the nation. Geo Group's stock also saw a sizable rise in value since the presidential election.
