Rents on the street, located in London's upmarket Mayfair district, have risen by 13pc over the past year, according to figures from Cushman & Wakefield. Retailers must now pay an average of €17,210 (£14,384) per square metre every year to have premises on the street, famed for its haute couture and luxury brands. The jump in rents means New Bond Street has overtaken Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui in the rankings of the most expensive streets for retailers. On Tsim Sha Tsui, the average cost of a square metre of space for a year is €15,697. The most expensive shopping street in the world is Via Monte Napoleone in Milan, followed by the Upper 5th Avenue in New York, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
