Brent Crude Oil prices ( CO1:COM ) are up 1.25% from five days ago and now trading at 73.31 per barrel, although today is down about 0.54%, as investors show concerns about the supply impact from Hurricane Francine disruptions. Around 12% of the crude production from the U.S. Gulf of Mexico is still shuttered, according to U.S. government data from Monday. Chevron ( CVX ) was among the producers that announced it had redeployed personnel and resumed production. “The disruptions come at a time of stretched bearish speculative positioning for lower prices, with ICE short crude positions overtaking long positions for the first time in the exchange's history,” said Solita Marcelli, chief investment officer for Americas at UBS, in a note.
