(Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images) Going off at 17-1, Dornoch, assumed the lead with Mindframe going into the far turn and held him off in the stretch to bring a fine upset to the 156th Belmont, taking home about $1.2 million and giving trainer Danny Gargan his first Belmont win. For his part, Irad Ortiz gave the extremely lightly raced Mindframe an excellent trip, moving away from the pack with dispatch into the far turn with Dornoch, and staying with him out of the clubhouse turn and into the top of the stretch. At the wire, Mindframe was just a shade more than half a length behind, but Dornoch just had more in the last furlong than Ortiz and Mindframe could match, and kept that winning edge at the wire.
