The project resulted in a new aluminium door design that is 14% lighter and has a 33% lower carbon footprint than current designs. The door was developed using Constellium's proprietary uni-alloy 6xxx rolled and extrusion-based solutions, which also enables closed-loop recycling. The project's findings demonstrate the potential of aluminium to support the decarbonization of the automotive industry while reducing costs.
