Getty Images After much speculation and almost three decades at Versace's helm, last week, on Thursday 13, 2025, Donatella Versace announced that she was stepping down. In her place, Versace announced that Dario Vitale, the former design and image director of Miu Miu, will take over in April as chief creative officer and that Donatella would become chief brand ambassador. In a release by Capri Holdings, she stated, "In my new role as chief brand ambassador, I will remain Versace's most passionate supporter. Versace is in my DNA and always in my heart.” While Versace's future is still unclear, the current restructuring comes amid growing speculation that Prada Group will acquire Versace, currently owned by Capri Holdings.
