The Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based company, formerly known as AmerisourceBergen, has sent out letters to affected individuals this week informing them that their personal and medical data, including their postal addresses and diagnostic information, were at risk. Cencora ( COR ), whose investors include pharmacy chain Walgreens ( WBA ), disclosed the data breach in February, noting that it immediately took corrective steps and started an investigation. According to TechCrunch , the company, which accounts for about one-fifth of pharmaceutical products sold and distributed in the U.S., has so far informed about half a million individuals about the data breach. The publication added that the number of affected individuals is expected to be far higher. It is the latest cyberattack to affect the U.S. healthcare system after similar incidents at UnitedHealth's ( UNH ) health tech unit, Change Healthcare, and non-profit hospital network Ascension.
