Fed doesn't want to get behind the curve in fighting unemployment the way it did when inflation surged after the pandemic, according to one strategist. With the U.S. economy staying strong, "there's no reason to start slowly," David Russell, global head of market strategy at TradeStation, said in an interview with Seeking Alpha. Along with the strong productivity numbers reported earlier this month, many indicators are pointing to lower inflation, he added. Energy prices have come down, OPEC plans to increase production, and China is exporting deflation, he said. The size of the rate cut is also sending the message that the Fed is now "more of a supporter to the economy than an inhibitor," Russell added.
