OpenAI launched Strawberry — another name for its its 01 model — on Sept. 12, including the full function o1-preview and the more affordable o1-mini to demonstrate how AI can be greatly improved by breaking a query down into step-by-step reasoning. This chain-of-thought reasoning works more like we humans do, by decomposing a problem into bite-sized chunks and tackling (computing) those chunks in sequence.
